Staples Review- Nook

The thought of getting a nook has ran thru my mind several times but I always just think I will grab a hardback book or read a book on my iPhone, so I never took the plunge of getting a tablet! Staples contacted me to do a review on a tablet and I got so excited! Not sure about you all but often times when I grab a hardback book I want to read at night while the kids are asleep ( in my bed of course) but I don't want to turn a light on, so on this nook I received it actually is a Nook simple touch with a  glow light, PERFECT! The Nook simple touch is just the perfect size, small enough to throw into a bag or carry with you yet the perfect size for reading. It is slim and sleek, perfection! I also like that it is just an e-reader, it is simply to read. You won't get distracted by wanting to get online and play games. I have already downloaded a few books and started reading and I love it, I can't wait to read more on it! It is very simple and easy to use! What I love most about this Kindle Nook is that it is user-friendly, light weight, compact, crisp text, and the glow light is my favorite feature! If you don't have an e-reader or tablet and are in the market for one, I would definitely recommend this Nook that you can order from Staples.

Sanus TV Mount Review/Giveaway

I was recently contacted by a company that is recommending and promoting a new product recommended for families to enhance safety for children, which I am always looking for ways to do so.

SANUS and Safe Kids Worldwide
Launch TV Safety Initiative
For many Americans, a flat panel TV is a great way to enjoy family time and entertainment.  However, most parents are unaware of the safety risks that flat panel TVs pose for kids.  Due to increasing size and new ultra thin designs, today’s flat panel TVs can easily tip over when bumped or pulled, toppling off of furniture and causing injury or even death.

Bringing this risk to the forefront, SANUS, the leading designer and manufacturer of flat panel TV wall mounts, has partnered with Safe Kids Worldwide.  By educating consumers on the risk of unsecured flat panel TV’s, SANUS and Safe Kids Worldwide offer safe solutions for families across the nation by reducing TV tip-over related injuries and fatalities.
A 2011 US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) report on flat panel TV safety revealed:
·         A child is killed every three weeks from an unsecured TV
·         Every 45 minutes a child visits an emergency room due to a TV tip-over related injury
·         Between 2000 and 2011, 215 fatalities have resulted from TV tip-over
·         An estimated 17,000 people each year, the majority of which are children, are treated for injuries from TV tip-overs
·         Reported cases have increased almost 25% from 2006  to 2010, and over the last 10 years, injuries have increased by 31%
SANUS TV Mounting Tips:
·         Easy 1, 2, 3 installation with a wall template to ensure even placement
  • Online video walkthrough of simple installation available at any time
  • No additional tools necessary – all required installation hardware is included in package

First Aid

It is very important to always have a first aid kit available in your house and your car as you never know when an accident may arise! Please find below a compiled list of top five items that should be an immediate addition into your family’s first aid kit to ensure safety. Every kit should keep the basics of: butterfly sutures, gauze, floss or fishing string, surgical tape, adhesive dressing, etc. but it’s time to revamp the technology in a medical kit to ensure family and those around you safety.

If you haven’t yet, add these necessities to your first aid kit to guarantee you have everything covered:

CPR GUIDE
When treating someone with an injury, it is common for caregivers to panic and forget all of their basic CPR and first aid training. Have a pocket guide that will refresh you.

CPR BARRIERS
When doing CPR on someone other than your loved ones, it is a very good idea to use a CPR One-Way Valve barrier, and you can purchase the face valves or the higher end versions that look more like a mask.

IDENTA TOUCH&KNOW: with these kits, anyone can test drugs and chemical substances to ensure when alerting authorities / figuring out next steps to help those in needs what the exact problem is.

PHONE HAND CRANK BACK-UP POWER USB BATTERY CHARGER
Perfect for powering up your cell phone and tablet when you can't find a power outlet, provides a last line of defense for staying connected to those that matter in a time of need.
EMERGENCY FIRST AID & TREATMENT GUIDE APP

Trends in Decorating: Simple Ways to Transform Your Child’s Bedroom

For some, decorating your child’s bedroom can be a daunting task – and an expensive one. But to create a designer look, you don’t have to have loads of cash sitting around. In an effort to save money in the long run, many parents are decorating children’s bedrooms with core furniture and pieces that can last throughout the various stages of life, from baby to school-age kiddo to tween to teenager. That doesn’t mean the bedroom looks the same the entire time – in fact, far from it. By using the following decorating tools, parents can makeover their children’s rooms without breaking the bank:

·         Paint: Nothing transforms a room more quickly than a new coat of paint in some fresh color. The color of a room’s walls can make the room calm or full of energy, depending on its tone and vibrancy. And the best part about paint is it can be relatively inexpensive and you have the option of only painting small sections of the room (e.g., an accent wall) but receiving a large return for the effort. For kids, neon is in this season, as are stripes, which work in a variety of color schemes and go well with other patterns such as floral.

·         Artwork: Decorating the walls of your child’s bedroom can get pricey, so purchase picture frames that can go with any color scheme – like white, for instance – and then find different scrapbook paper patterns or cheap artwork to fill them. These can be switched out easily whenever you or your child feels the need for a little change. Also, mini art galleries are quite popular right now; to create one, use an assortment of small artwork pieces, mirrors, photos and wall hangings and arrange them on one wall in a grouping that will draw a person’s eye upon entering the room.

·         Wallpaper and wall decals: Wallpaper may sound old-fashioned, but it’s coming back into style with a bang. It’s available in all sorts of kid-friendly themes and patterns and in many cases is sold as self-adhesive temporary wallpaper. Customized wall decals and personalized growth charts are other simple, fun and temporary ways to add flair and personality to your kiddo’s room.

·         Accents: If you can find basic furniture pieces – a bed, dresser, bookcase and desk – that will serve as staples in your child’s room despite his or her growth, then you will save a lot of money in the long term. That’s where accents play a role. Lamps, throws, pillows, curtains and knickknacks in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes can be easily switched out, remade and repurposed throughout your child’s stay in his or her bedroom. And depending on your bargain shopping and DIY skills, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a chic, stylish room, no matter your kid’s age. Rugs are also a fast and easy way to transform the look and feel of a room. They are a centerpiece that can be used as the inspiration for your color and patterns schemes.

Most parents today will tell their kids they aren’t made of money, but that doesn’t mean they want to deny their children a place to call their own. The trouble is, kids can change their minds frequently and they grow up so quickly. By holding onto the mindset that it’s possible to decorate your child’s bedroom in an affordable way and by keeping in mind these simple decorating tools, you can help your children express themselves through the makeover of the place they call home.
