Operation Smile

Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that performs safe, effective cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, and delivers postoperative and ongoing medical therapies to children in low and middle income countries.

At Operation Smile, we're more than a charity. We're a mobilized force of international medical professionals and caring hearts. Operation Smile is a pioneer in advocating for the importance of safe surgery in resource poor environments and is the largest surgical charity of its kind, leading research into the causes of cleft lip and cleft palate, and its prevention, treatment and eradication.

Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. A child with a cleft has twice the odds of dying before their first birthday. Children with cleft conditions who survive may have difficulty eating, speaking, hearing or breathing properly. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford the surgeries they need to live a productive life.

Every child deserves access to safe, quality surgical care. Every child deserves a future filled with hope.

That's where we come in as the largest volunteer-based children's medical charity providing free cleft surgeries. Since 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical volunteers — has provided 220,000 free surgical procedures for children and young adults. Our work creates a lasting global impact. We train local medical professionals in developing countries and strengthen healthcare systems so more children in some of the poorest areas in the world can be treated.

As one of the most prominent charities for children in the world, we work in over 60 countries to heal children’s smiles and bring hope for a better future. Together, we are saving children’s lives.

Thanks to the generosity and spirit of volunteerism shown by our supporters, we heal thousands of children per year. With your help, how many lives can we change tomorrow? Learn more about our mission, key differentiators and history by clicking on the links below to see how we are unique from other children's charities.

One company that is a big supporter is Campus Book Rentals, for each book that is rented they donate to Operation Smile. How awesome is that?

I'm back!

Wow, was my last blog post really in October of 2013? Where does the time go? I strongly agree with this saying, " The days seem long but years seem so short." So much has changed and happened since I last blogged... We have moved to a new state, bought, a new house, husband accepted a new position, Brody started Kindergarten, Hudson became a toddler, and we welcomed a new BABY into our family! I am so thankful and super blessed for all of the good changes that have happened and can't wait to share more! I hope to bring more reviews/giveaways of some great products and share the happenings of life as a Mom with THREE little boys!

Brody goes to Pre-school

I had been going back and forth about weather or not I wanted to send Brody to pre-school and finally I decided that it was time. I have been blessed to be able to stay home with Brody and I guess I was always kind of selfish and didn't want to "share" him but don't worry because he had no problem and never wanted to leave me either, ha. Since we have moved to WV I thought pre-school would be good for him in many different ways. Also since he will be starting kindergarten next year I definitely thought he needed some type of school setting and structure before I threw him into Kindergarten! Also since we don't know too many people here in WV I thought it would be a good place for him to meet and have friends!

He is going on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-12 and he loves it! He has done great with drop off and his teacher says he is perfect and that he definitely stole her heart!! I am so thankful for the pre-school I found and his teacher is so sweet and super great!!

Mid-Week Randoms

I'm back!! Sort of, kind of, I really hope so! I have missed the blogging world (besides some great giveaways here and there, tell your friends!). Between moving, getting a new house put together, making trips back home, and enjoying my babies I stay super busy!

I thought I would write about some mid-week random's, then I realized it was Thursday but that's okay, right?

-- Hudson is now 17 months old and is officially weaned from nursing! It was time and he did great, still has a few moments but has done so much better than I thought. I just quit cold turkey and that is what worked for us!

-- We have been living in our new house, in a new state for about 4 months now and we are still getting adjusted. I hope to post some house pictures soon. What's the best way to take house pictures? I feel like anytime I take them , they just aren't blog worthy, ha. I will say I haven't done a whole lot of decorating and splurging because we know this is not "home" but just temporary!

-- Has this not just been a rainy, gloomy summer or what? I feel like it is always rainy and cloudy in WV so that is why we head back to KY about 1 time during the week and on the weekend!

-- Brody Luke has learned how to ride his bike without training wheels this summer, yay! He also finished his first summer of tee-ball where he did an awesome job!

-- I post a lot on IG so follow me there, if you would like! Lea_Liz

Here is to hopes that I can start blogging again and adding some pictures!!
