What do I need- Baby Edition

When I was pregnant with Brody, I knew that I needed everything. I was starting fresh and had no clue about all of the bets baby gear and equipment and what I would use the most, I just knew I needed it all. I kept alot of big items from Brody.. High chair, pack n play, stroller and infant seat, jumper and bumbo seat. It just seems like this time with the 2nd baby I do not even know where to begin with what I actually need? That sounds silly, doesn't it? I mean I've done this before I should know, right? WRONG! I have all of these thoughts running through my head.

Do I really need a fancy double stroller? Will I even use it? Or should I just have my single stroller and let Brody ride and use a carrier for the baby? If you are a mother of two, give me your opinion.

Should I get a swing this time? I used a hand me down with Brody (I got rid of it) and he really didn't use it that much. Should I get a new one and give it a try for this baby?

I used the Chicco Key fit Infant Seat with Brody which I kept. I am wanting to get a new one to have one for both vehicles. I loved the Chicco but I have heard alot of good things about the Graco Snugride Infant Seat as well. Give me your opinion?

I used the Bjorn baby carrier with Brody ( I liked it but not sure if I kept it) but I have heard alot about the Moby wrap. Should I try it or is there a better one you would recommend?

Oh my goodness.. what else am I missing??? I used the pack n play by my bed with Brody when he was small but we have moved our bedroom and I am not sure if it will fit so I am thinking of getting a bassinet. Do you have a favorite you would recommend?

I do know some things I want and use for sure but there are just so many options and they come out with so many new and different things and I love baby gear that I just don't even know where to begin. I would love to hear about your favorite's and opinions!!

carrier instead of stroller

moby is ok but bulky complicated and not easy to transport. a ring sling is a lifesaver. kaleababy.com.

you will love it

Well, I have to say that I often used the carrier and still do. There are times when a double stroller is sometimes just too big, so the single and the carrier is the way to go. There are also times where I wear baby and let big brother ride in the cart too. I will say that there are still a lot of times that we use the double stroller though.

My 1st loved the swing. I kept it for #2 and she HATED it! So, no advice there!

I used the same infant carrier for both of my kids - Peg Perego 30/30

As far as a carrier, the Bjorn is really bad for baby's spine. Just do some research there. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Beco baby carrier. Just search "BECO" in google. Used it with baby 1 and now 2. My older son can still be worn with it comfortably too and he is almost 3 and over 30 lbs. It goes up to 40 or 45 lbs (cannot remember).

Never used a bassinet. Both of my kids slept 1st night and every other night in the crib in their room. Worked for us.

Good luck! :o)

I still haven't gotten a double stroller and not sure if I will. I can't decide which one and I'm afraid it would be a waste of money. I don't think Boston would sit in stroller much anyway. We got a swing with Boston and he hated it, Blakely hates it too :/

I found you through Jenna's Journey. I would definitely recommend the moby wrap. Once you get used to it they are very easy to use. Studies have shown that many of the baby carriers are bad for babies' hips. The moby is one of the ones that is not. It is also very comfortable for both mom and baby. I don't have a second baby yet, but I do babysit my niece and use a double stroller when I do that. I would suggest getting one, because there are times when you may not want to be carrying a baby (like when it is really hot out). On top of that, when the baby gets bigger it might not be comfortable anymore.
We got the graco car seat for our son. We liked it and it has one of the highest safety ratings of any car seat.

I used the same chicco car seat for both babies. We bought two bases so that we could switch cars. Also, I waited until after baby was born to see, but I found that it was easier to use a double stroller, and got the Combi double stroller. Its super light and folds up really small. plus it came in Gamecock colors!

Hey!
We just had baby #2 and bought the huge double stroller. I would wait and get more of an umbrella double stroller when your second one is sitting up. The one that holds car seats is HUGE!
We have a Graco snugride and love it.
We have one of those low to the ground portable swings and a full size one. I would go with the cheaper smaller one!
We have a cradle for our room and a Moses basket for the living room. I LOVE the basket. It's easy to carry from room to room and to travel with!
Have fun shopping!

I swear by our swing. Big T used it ALL THE TIME though. It was the one you pictured- the My Little lamb swing and it was awesome, but the only downside was it had batteries and we used it so much that we had to replace batteries in it every couple weeks. So this time (after the my little lamb swing crapped out from overuse- i lent it to my brother and sis in law right after Big T grew out of it and they used it just as much) we got the exact same swing, but it plugs in instead! I think it's the My Little Snug a Bunny.

Bassinet- I wanted one too, but didnt get one so we'll be using the pack n play again next to our bed- unless I can find a cheap one on Craigslist.

Double Stroller- this one is a need for us. Especially since ours won't be but 2 years apart. I'm sure we'll get tons of use out of it so we want a nice, good quality one.

Moby Wrap- got one at our shower. I didn't use one last time because I didn't really need free hands with only 1, but this time, I'm sure I will.

Carseat- We used Graco Snugride last time. Loved it. Zero complaints. This time I want a Chicco... or a Graco... I don't care. I've heard both are great.

Ok- that's it for my ridiculously long comment! Hope that helps!

I would go for the double stroller! I have a (almost) 3 year old & a 3 month old and use it every.single.day!!!

As for the swing. I'm in the same boat you are. Logan really isn't a fan. Kind of wasted space for an every great once of awhile use.

I also have the EXACT same Graco Snugride carseat. I love it!!! It will be super warm for fall/winter.

Good luck!!! I love your blog :)

Graco is a trusted brand for baby strollers and carriers. I have a baby stroller which is a limited edition one and it is one of the best ones. I got it from a Mississauga Baby Store

Hey girl-just checking in to give you my opinions on what you need. I SWEAR by the boppy pillow. It was the best thing I had for Gavin. It's great for breastfeeding too.
I had the Moby wrap and liked it, but he didn't. It's up to you. I don't have two kids, but I would def wait to get the double stroller. They are pretty huge! Oh and we had a huge swing like the one you had a pic of, and G didn't use it at all. He hated it actually. We had a travel swing that he liked MUCH more and didn't take up hardly any room.
Hope that helps. But really....you must get the boppy!
